Mom to Mom - My Daughter knows you don't like her.

To the Mom that treats my daughter differently because your daughter doesn't like her...
This is my Mom to Mom message.

I'm okay with our daughters not being friends.  Not everyone has to be friends. That's the reality and I am okay with that.  Even more...

She's okay with that.
She's okay with not being friends with your daughter.
She's okay with not being invited to the parties.
She's okay with the clickiness formed at school.
She's okay with being excluded.
She's even okay with being talked about.

But she's sad.  She is sad because she sees you, the mom, treat her differently.
She's sad because you talk to her snippy & give her nasty looks.
She's sad because she feels uncomfortable around you.
She's sad because she tip toes around everything she does near you.
She's sad because she sees how nice you are to the other kids.
She's sad because she doesn't understand what she did wrong.
She doesn't understand, so she is sad.

And now I am sad.
I know our daughters are not friends and I know how hard this age is for them.
But Mothers are supposed to be the safe haven that a child feels.  Mothers are supposed to look out for each others children.  Mothers are supposed to be the example of how to treat others.  Mothers are supposed to be teachers and leaders and all that selflessness is.  Mothers are supposed to be mothers, first and foremost.

In a world where child suicide is on the rise and anti-bullying campaigns are plastered everywhere, it makes me sad to see another adult, a mother, make a child feel so insignificant.  I know we are not friends, and I know our daughters are not friends.  But I wish so much for your daughter.  Success, happiness, determination, to feel important and loved and content in all that life blesses her with.  I wish this, for your daughter, just as I wish it for mine.

So now I wish to say, Thank You.
Thank you for being the perfect example of how NOT to be.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to teach my daughter what dignity and kindness are.
Thank you for letting her see that this world is not perfect and that anyone can cause sadness.
Thank you for helping her understand that it all starts at home.
Thank you for opening her eyes to see how I treat her friends.
Thank you for helping me teach her how to be a better friend.
Thank You.
